International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons
26th September
The International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons is celebrated every year on 26th of September.
The General Assembly of the UN declared this International Day in December 2013 (resolution 68/32) as a follow-up to the high-level meeting of the General Assembly on nuclear disarmament held on the 26th September 2013, in New York.
The purpose of this International Day is to eliminate nuclear weapons. This can be achieved only enhancing public awareness, and education, about the threat nuclear weapons pose to the entire humanity.
