International Day of the Tropics

29th June

The International Day of the Tropics is celebrated each year on June 29th. This Day is aimed at raising awareness about the various challenges that tropical nations face but also to highligh the extraordinary diversity of the tropics.

The Tropics represent a specific area which is comprised between the Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn. It is in 2016 that United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution in order to celebrate the International Day of the Tropics on 29th June each year.

The Day was established to raise public awareness about the importance of these areas and to highlight the increasingly important role that tropical countries will play in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
